Become a Stream Team Member
Have you ever floated a stretch of river and thought it begged for clean-up?
Well, Arkansas's Stream Team program provides opportunities for people to get
involved in stream conservation. Efforts are concentrated in three areas:
Education Volunteers receive 2 days of free training in water-quality monitoring, and all the equipment is provided free of charge too. Streambank maintenance and restoration with all materials provided free.. Stewardship Landowners and stream users are matched with the appropriate governmental agency or ongoing organizational effort. Litter control, improved fish habitat, water quality monitoring and streambank stabilization are all possible. Advocacy Volunteers are shown how to work for the proper conservation of Arkansas's water resources. Who better to speak out about a stream issue than the people with first-hand knowledge of the situation? Missouri has 800 stream teams with 24,000 people involved. With your help Arkansas's program can be as successful.
