Murray Park:

To find Murray Park take highway 10 ( called Cantrell Road in town ) from it's intersection with I-430 and go east into town, 4.5 miles will bring you to the top of a steep hill ( Cantrell hill ) on a curve. Descend the hill the first left turn is Coffee Pot Lane, take the second called Old Cantrell Road. Take second left again onto Rebsamen Park Road. Follow this road and you will see Rebsamen Golf Course and the Arkansas River on your right. Murray Park is just past the golf course.

This is the best site in our area for Fall birds. After parking look around the playing field, and boat-launching ramp for Great Blue Heron, Belted Kingfisher, Bald Eagle ( winter ), Eastern Kingbird, Scissor-tail Flycatcher and listen for a Warbling Vireo. Walk back toward the golf course along the river bank, and follow a path into an area of trees and bushes around a backwater of the river. This is the place to see fall migrants, particularly the warblers. When the river is low cross onto a large sand-bar, also tree covered, and meander around. Merlin, Inca Dove, Alder Flycatcher, Marsh Wren, Osprey, gulls ( Ring-billed mostly ) Double-crested Cormorant, White Pelican have all been seen in this area.
